Reality TV star Pere Egbi, also known as “the General”, has hailed the Black Stars of Ghana after their 3-2 loss to Portugal in the opening match of Group H at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Having missed out on the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, this will be Ghana’s first appearance at the event since 2014.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored the first of five goals scored in the final 24 minutes, and the Portuguese came back to win the crucial encounter.

Shortly after that, Ghana’s Andre Ayew scored to make it 1-1, but Portugal responded with goals from Joao Felix and Rafael Leao to regain a 3-1 lead.

Osman Bukari scored Ghana’s late consolation goal.

Ghana tied Nigeria 1-1 in Abuja on March 29, 2022, and advanced to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, thanks to their superior goal differential.

Despite the scoreless tie in Kumasi after 90 minutes of the first leg of the playoff, Ghana won on away goals thanks to a Thomas Partey strike after just 10 minutes.

After 22 minutes, Nigeria tied the game with a penalty kick by William Troost-Ekong, but the Black Stars held on to advance to Qatar.

For their first-ever World Cup tune-up match, Portugal’s Selecao team defeated Nigeria’s Super Eagles 4-0 on November 17.

Pere tweeted his praise for the Ghanaian team, calling them “far better” than Nigeria’s Super Eagles, who aren’t even in the event.

He singled out their on-field prowess against Ronaldo and Portugal as worthy of special praise.

“Ghana is a much more better team than the Super Eagles. See how they playing Portugal,” he tweeted.
