Gboyega Aribisogan emerges new Ekiti Assembly speaker

Gboyega Aribisogan, the former leader of the Government Business committee of the Ekiti Assembly, has been elected as the new Speaker of the State's House of Assembly.

Gboyega Aribisogan, the former leader of the Government Business committee of the Ekiti Assembly, has been elected as the new Speaker of the State’s House of Assembly.

Mr. Tola Esan, the clerk of the House, administered the oath of office to Aribisogan, a native of Ijesha-Isu in Ikole Local Government Area, on Tuesday during the plenary.

Following the death of the previous Speaker, Funminiyi Afuye, a new Speaker was elected. The last Speaker of the House passed away due to a heart attack.

Afuye represented Constituency 1 of Ikere in the Assembly.

He died at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH) on October 19. He was subsequently interred last Friday at his rural residence in Ikere-Ekiti.
