Nyesom Wike: Why I promised to support Peter Obi

The governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has issued Executive Order 22, prohibiting political parties from using unapproved residential buildings as campaign offices.

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has reaffirmed his commitment to providing logistical support for Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi.

Wike explained that Obi’s status as a former governor meant he needed logistical assistance from Rivers State during his presidential run.

Wike promised on Friday to help with the logistics of Obi’s presidential campaign.

The governor announced this while Obi was in town to commission a flyover in the state capital of Port Harcourt.

Wike cautioned Obi, however, that the Labour Party would not win any political position in the state.

Wike made this statement yesterday in Port Harcourt. He said the PDP is the only party in Rivers State.

“I have no regret in saying I will support Obi with logistics. He is a former governor, and if he is coming to campaign here, I will give him logistics support,” he declared.

“I will give him vehicles and security; I must give him logistics support. And I told him yesterday that his party will not get even one position in Rivers, not the House of Assembly; there is no other party in Rivers. The only party we have here is PDP, Rivers State chapter.”
